The course teaches nursing and medical staff how to assist peers and individuals who are developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to give initial help and professional help. In addition a key component is defining the sort of help that has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

The benefits of this Nationally Accredited certification has been recognized by several key professional bodies, with significant CPD points acquired through the completion of the certification.

This activity has been endorsed by the Australian Practice Nurses Association (APNA) according to approved criteria. Completion of this education activity entitles eligible participants to claim up to 12 CPD hours.
