The course teaches nursing and medical staff how to assist peers and individuals who are developing a mental health problem or in a mental health crisis. Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of the common and disabling mental health problems, how to give initial help and professional help. In addition a key component is defining the sort of help that has been shown by research to be effective, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.

The benefits of this Nationally Accredited certification has been recognized by several key professional bodies, with significant CPD points acquired through the completion of the certification.
